Overview
Getting started
Use the dashboard to check overdue reviews, upcoming refreshes, and the health of every enabled framework. Jump directly into the document library filtered for a specific standard or open the standards page to enable a new one.
- Invite client admins and compliance analysts from Users > Invite.
- Upload policies, procedures, and evidence under Documents > Upload.
- Assign each document to the right standards. The AI parser pre-selects them automatically, and you can fine-tune on the document detail page.

Document management
Uploading evidence
Drag and drop files (PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, CSV, TXT, PNG, JPG) onto the upload card. Duplicate detection uses SHA-256 checksums so you do not ingest the same asset twice. After upload, the AI parser extracts sections, dates, tags, and standard mappings.
Review dates
Every document tracks Content Created, Content Updated, and Review Due. Edit them on the detail panel or let the AI infer dates from the evidence. Overdue and upcoming reviews appear on the dashboard hero cards.
Multi-standard warning
If a document belongs to multiple standards, bulk deletion prompts you to confirm so you understand which frameworks will lose coverage.

Standards & coverage
Enable any combination of standards from the Standards page. The document library groups evidence by framework with collapsible sections so you can focus on one at a time.
- Collapsible groups: Click a standard header to expand or collapse its evidence set.
- Coverage cards: Each group shows live AI coverage, missing artifacts, and documents that need edits.
- Deep links: Use View documents buttons on the dashboard cards to open a filtered library view.
Analysis
AI coverage analysis
The analyzer maps your evidence to ISO/IEC topics (with SOC 2, NIST CSF, and DORA following soon) to highlight missing artifacts and risky documents.
- Run analysis: Use the "Run coverage" button in any standard group. Jobs execute async in the queue so the UI stays responsive.
- Interpret results: Coverage percentages reflect how many topics have direct evidence. Missing artifacts show unmapped controls, while Document Findings call out stale or incomplete files.
- Re-run anytime: Upload or update documents, then re-run to refresh the score. Frequent re-analysis keeps executive dashboards accurate.
Workflows
Automation & workflows
Scheduled jobs sync reminders, refresh dashboard metrics, and send weekly summaries.
- Review reminders: Owners receive automated emails when review dates approach.
- Coverage digests: Weekly exports summarize changes in topic coverage for each standard.
- Integrations: Use webhooks or the REST API to mirror coverage data in your GRC or ticketing tools.
Security
Accounts & roles
Comptool uses role-based access control. Client admins can invite users, manage branding, and select standards. Analysts upload evidence and run coverage analyses. Support staff can be granted read-only access for troubleshooting.
To reset your password, use the "Forgot password" link on the login page. Sessions enforce MFA when your organization requires it, and idle users are logged out automatically.

Frequently asked questions
What file types are supported?
PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, CSV, TXT, PNG, JPG, and scanned documents via OCR.
How do I retry parsing if the AI extractor fails?
Open the document detail view and select "Retry". The file is re-queued for extraction and coverage.
Can I export coverage results?
Open a coverage card and use the upcoming "Copy" button or call /api/coverage/{standard} to integrate with your own dashboard.
Does the AI support frameworks beyond ISO 27001?
Yes. ISO 27002 controls are live today, and SOC 2, NIST CSF, and DORA mappings are rolling out. Contact support for early access.
How often should I run coverage?
Re-run whenever documents change or at least weekly so leadership dashboards stay accurate.
